This is a summary only of some of the features and benefits available in Allianz’s Caravan and Trailer Insurance, as well as some of the exclusions. Before deciding on a policy, carefully consider the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) which sets out the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions.

Caravan and trailer insurance covers you for accidental loss or damage to your caravan or trailer caused by events such as accidents, or natural events such as storms or fires, as well as theft.

It also provides up to $20 million legal liability cover,4 which can cover you if you’re found liable to pay compensation to someone because you’ve accidentally damaged their property.

The cost of your insurance is called a ‘premium’. Your premium will depend on a number of factors, and can change each year when you renew your policy. Your premium for each period of insurance will be shown on your policy schedule.

There are several factors that determine how your premium is calculated, including your risk profile, such as:

  • Where your caravan or trailer is parked when you’re not using it
  • The type of caravan or trailer you’re insuring
  • The amount and type of cover you require
  • Your claims history
  • The likelihood of a claim being made on your policy
  • Any discounts that may apply
  • Any compulsory government charges such as Stamp Duty and GST
  • Any other charges Allianz tells you about
  • Any optional covers you choose
Although you're not legally required to have caravan or trailer insurance, it’s worth considering whether you could afford to repair or replace your caravan or trailer if it were involved in an accident, stolen, or damaged by a fire or storm.
There's always the risk of accidental damage or theft, even while your caravan is in your driveway. So, it’s a good idea to consider insuring your caravan, whether you’re on the road or at home.

It's important to consider whether Comprehensive Motor Insurance or Third Party Property Damage Motor Insurance are right for you. For example, having Third Party Property Damage Motor Insurance for your vehicle can cover any damage you cause to other people's vehicles or property while towing your caravan or trailer.

Most car insurance policies cover your vehicle while towing a caravan or trailer, but many won't cover damage to your caravan or trailer if it’s involved in an accident. That's why it's important to check your car insurance policy and consider taking out additional caravan or trailer insurance.

Allianz Caravan and Trailer Insurance allows you to select contents cover of up to $1,000 without additional approval. This includes cover for loss or damage to your contents because of either an accident where your caravan or trailer is accidentally damaged at the same time, or theft following forced entry to your caravan or trailer.
  1. Pay by instalments
Premiums payable by instalments may be subject to minor adjustments (upwards or downwards) due to rounding, and financial institution transaction fees may apply.
  2. The option to increase your caravan’s contents cover
    Subject to underwriting limits.
  3. New replacement after a total loss
If a replacement caravan or trailer in the same make, model and series is not currently available, Allianz will pay you either the market value or agreed value of your caravan or trailer, whichever is shown in the current schedule.
  4. Legal liability cover
Arising out of a single event or series of related events. This cover will only apply if your legal liability arises out of the use of your caravan or trailer. Allianz won’t cover your legal liability for claims arising out of or in any way connected with the existence of asbestos.
